About

Open-air stone memorial honoring the twenty people executed during the 1692–93 Salem witch trials, adjacent to Charter Street Cemetery.

History & lore

Dedicated in 1992 for the tercentenary of the witch trials, the memorial features twenty stone benches inscribed with the names and death dates of those executed. It sits next to the Charter Street Cemetery (Old Burying Point). The site is a sober civic memorial rather than a scare attraction, and it is generally open dawn to dusk for respectful visiting.
